Serve the Community

Are you interested in living out the Gospel by serving our local community together? Below are some great volunteer opportunities in Amherst and the Pioneer Valley. Springfield Rescue Mission meets both the physical and spiritual needs of those who are poor, hungry, homeless, and addicted. They do this by providing meals, an emergency shelter, a giveaway center, and a men’s rehabilitation center. Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity helps build strength and self-reliance through the owning of a home. They are affiliated with Habitat for Humanity International, which believes that everyone deserves a better place to live. Volunteer at https://www.pvhabitat.org/ways-to-volunteer/.

Friends of Children is dedicated to improving the lives of children and young adults who are affected by the foster care system and juvenile-justice involvement. Safe Passage gives help, support, resources, and assistance to those who are survivors of domestic violence. Volunteer at https://safepass.org/volunteer/ 

Cutchins Program for Children partners with allies in the community and offer support for children and families with mental health care. Volunteer at https://cutchins.org/careers

Craig's Doors serves members of the community with emergency shelter, food, and resources to help with their physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. Volunteer at https://craigsdoors.org/help

It Takes a Village provides free postpartum support to families with babies and young children who are living in Western Massachusetts. They hope to inspire the community to welcome their new members. Volunteer at https://www.hilltownvillage.org/volunteer/

Christina’s House, Incorporated is a Christ-centered ministry with a mission to educate, embrace and encourage women and their children who are homeless or near homeless through the love of Jesus Christ.  Our vision is to provide the selected mothers and their children with life skills needed to become self-sufficient as they transition from homelessness to permanent and stable environments.
