Mercy Ministry
MERCYhouse’s Mercy Ministry aims to serve the practical and tangible needs of people within our church family, our local community, and beyond.
“
“If among you, one of your brothers should become poor, in any of your towns within your land that the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, but you shall open your hand to him and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be. ”
Purpose of the Mercy Ministry
The purpose of the Mercy Ministry of our church is to:
Meet Practical Needs within the body of Christ and in our local community, especially among those experiencing hardship or crisis.
Reflect Christ’s Compassion, seeking to treat each person with dignity, gentleness, and respect as bearers of God’s image.
Connect People to Lasting Help, including available community resources, local care programs, counseling, and assistance networks.
Equip the Church to Serve, helping cultivate a culture of generosity, compassion and mercy in our church body.
Who We Serve
While the Mercy Ministry is open to anyone in genuine need, special focus is given to those who are most vulnerable, including:
Individuals and families facing housing or food insecurity
Single parents and caregivers who carry heavy burdens
Individuals who are isolated, overlooked, or marginalized in society
The elderly, disabled, or chronically ill
People in transitional life crises (job loss, medical hardship, relational breakdown)
As Jesus’s ministry prioritized the overlooked (Luke 4:18–19; Luke 14:12–14), we seek to serve those who are often unseen or forgotten.
We recognize this ministry is not a replacement for ongoing social care, counseling, or permanent housing assistance. When long-term support is needed, we will help connect individuals to appropriate agencies, organizations, and local service providers.
Do you need assistance, know of someone who does, or have an opportunity for us to serve?
Our Mercy Ministry Team is always looking for people to help serve those in need! If you’re interested in joining, please reach out to our Director of Mercy Ministry (Noreen Kelly) here.
