MERCYhouse is a household of faith being built by the Mercy of God; a Gospel-centered family on mission to make disciples who make disciples on campuses, in communities, and among the unreached people of the world.

MERCYhouse is a local, evangelical expression of the Body of Christ. We are Baptist in theological heritage, congregational in church governance, and elder-led in pastoral oversight.

Statement of Faith

  • THE BIBLE:  We believe that the Bible, composed of 66 books, is exclusively the inspired and infallible Word of God, and that it's every word can be relied on to reveal what we believe, and how we can live out these beliefs. We believe it is our final authority through which all matters of faith and practice are assessed by. See 2 Timothy 3:16 and 2 Peter 1:21

  • THE TRINITY:  We believe that the Bible is a story which is primarily about God. We discover in the Bible that God is TRIUNE, which means He is one God and three Persons: These persons are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. See Matthew 3:13-17; Matthew 28:19

  • CREATION:  We believe this Triune God creates the whole universe, including human beings, and designs them to be in a perfect relationship with God, self, others, and the Earth. See Genesis 1,2

  • SIN:  We believe that human beings reject God's offer to live in this perfect relationship, and we rebel against God by breaking His commands. This is called sin. The result of sin is a disintegration (or separation) of the relationships with God, self, others, and the Earth.  Outside of the saving work of Christ, this separation becomes eternal, also known as hell.   See Genesis 3 and Romans 3:23 and Romans 6:23

  • SALVATION: We believe that God, in his mercy, executes His plan to save humans from sin and it's effects. God the Father sends God the Son (Jesus) in bodily human form to take the punishment of death (physical and spiritual) that humans deserve. This is why Jesus died on the cross.  See 2 Corinthians 5:21 and John 3:16

  • RESURRECTION:  We believe that three days after Jesus died on the cross, He rose from the dead and appeared to over 500 people. His resurrection proves that His death destroys the sting of sin, which is death (both physical and spiritual).  See 1 Corinthians 15

  • FAITH: We believe that those wanting to access this great salvation, provided to us by Jesus' death and resurrection, can access it though faith, given to us as a gift of God's grace. See John 6:28,29, Romans 3:23-26 and Ephesians 2:8

  • HOLY SPIRIT:  We believe God the Spirit is actively working to convince unbelievers of their need for salvation through Jesus (See John 16:1-11 ). He is also forming Christ followers to become more like Christ (see Galatians 5:16-26), become fruitful members of one's church family (see 1 Corinthians 12:1-20), and be a witness to the world (see Acts 1:8),  so they too can receive the new life that only Jesus gives.
