MERCYhouse Ministries
CURRENTLY SERVING MINISTRY LEADERS
Audio/Visual Technology
Led by Abhishek Varghese
The AV ministry bridges the gap between the stage and the rest of the congregation. The ministry aims to help the preacher's message come with clarity to the congregation, whether one is seated in the front or the back. The ministry also aims to serve the congregation to help worship alongside each other through delivering lyrics and music with consistency, Sunday after Sunday. Using sound engineering and visuals, the ministry aims to help foster participation of the congregation during the service, and also help enhance the worship experience.

Building Team
Led by Luke Showalter
The Building Team stewards the facilities that God has entrusted to MERCYHouse. While the church is not a building, the spaces where we gather play an important role in fostering worship, discipleship, fellowship, prayer, and outreach. We work to maintain and improve these spaces with the goal of creating a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for anyone who walks through our doors.
The whole church is invited to participate in this ministry through several work days held throughout the year. We also welcome anyone who is passionate about stewarding our spaces to join the core Building Team. This includes everyone who wants to contribute their skills in construction, design, organization, landscaping, planning, or other practical areas of service.
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
- 1 Peter 4:10-11

Connect Team
Led by Matt May and Rachel Hebert
The Connect Team aims to connect members, regular attenders, and visitors with whatever means of information or fellowship they're seeking. We also want to make ourselves available to anyone who would like to meet up with someone and learn more about the church, ask questions about faith, or make a friend at MERCYhouse. Anyone who is interested in fellowship and deeper involvement at the church can partake in this ministry -- both by serving and being served!"
“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!”
- Psalm 133:1

Finance Team
Led by Tolu Oke
The MERCYhouse Finance Team exists to faithfully steward the financial resources God entrusts to our church with integrity, wisdom, transparency, and prayerful discernment. We devote ourselves to Scripture reading and prayer as we consider financial decisions, research best practices that impact the church, and prepare responsible budgets and clear financial reports.
Our goal is to ensure that every resource God provides supports MERCYhouse’s mission of making disciples in the five-college area, throughout the Pioneer Valley, and among the unreached peoples of the world.
We pray that all financial resources entrusted to our church would be used wisely and generously in ways that honor God, strengthen His church, and advance the Gospel locally and globally.
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
- Ephesians 3:20–21

Hospitality Team
Led by Abbigale Dearing
(supported by Kaci Bashaw and Elsie Uwera)
The Hospitality Team is a ministry at MERCYhouse that does more than serving food. The practical care of people involves their physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. The Hospitality Team aims to give opportunities that minister to these needs of others, and for others to have their needs met.
We serve God by serving others, welcoming strangers with the blessing of food and fueling the saints for the work of ministry.
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’
Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’”
- Matthew 25:34–40

Kids and Family Ministry
Led by Kaitlyn Moore
The mission of MERCYhouse Kids (MH Kids) is for our church family to partner with parents to help build a firm gospel-centered spiritual foundation in our children. This is accomplished by providing excellent resources and training to our ministry team and parents to help establish and grow the faith of our children in God through each of their stages of development.
Our goal is to create a safe, loving environment where our children can experience the Hope of the Gospel through the Word of God, by the People of God. Our Children's Ministry is fueled by the prayerful and selfless service of our committed MH Kids Ministry Team, with the hope of watching the next generation of our children and their friends walking in faith in Jesus Christ.

Mercy Ministry
Led by Noreen Kelly
MERCYhouse’s Mercy Ministry aims to serve the practical and tangible needs of people within our church family, our local community, and beyond.
“If among you, one of your brothers should become poor, in any of your towns within your land that the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, but you shall open your hand to him and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be.
- Deuteronomy 15:7–8
This ministry aims to offer short-term, restorative assistance, not long-term dependency. Whenever possible, the goal is to help people move toward stability, relationship, and community support.
As Jesus’s ministry prioritized the overlooked (Luke 4:18–19; Luke 14:12–14), we seek to serve those who are often unseen or forgotten.
We recognize this ministry is not a replacement for ongoing social care, counseling, or permanent housing assistance. When long-term support is needed, we will help connect individuals to appropriate agencies, organizations, and local service providers.

We SEND by helping to coordinate logistical details and
We SUPPORT through financial giving, regular communication and persistent prayer.
“For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?
As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!””

The prayer team is a ministry that devotes itself to prayers, supplications, intercessions, and thanksgivings for all people (1 Timothy 2:1).

Women’s Ministry
Led by Vika Katko
MERCYhouse Women’s ministry is a group of women who are about their Father's kingdom, committed to build and nurture a godly and safe community within MERCYhouse. In this community, we labor so that women are seen, loved, and strengthened for their good and God’s glory.
There are two current main outputs of this ministry:
1) The women’s ministry team plans and hosts church wide outreach, fellowship, and teaching events, working to create intentional spaces where women can connect and be equipped to love the Lord and one another.
2) Members of the women’s ministry team actively disciple believers and are discipled by believers through one on one and/or group settings. This looks like, but is not limited to: building up our families as mothers and wives, sisters and daughters; leading Bible studies, spiritual formation groups, and church ministries; and advocating, both personally and professionally, for the hurting and abused, the widow and orphan.
Any woman who loves the Lord and loves the people of God can serve in this ministry! We strive to equip and support all members to walk and grow in their spiritual gifts so as to bless the Body of Christ.
This ministry seeks to first serve, strengthen, and spur their sisters at MERCYhouse to be Women of the Lord in the Word. It is also our heart to reach our families, neighbors, and communities with the good news of Jesus Christ.
“For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”
- Galatians 5:13
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
- Colossians 3:16

Worship Ministry
Worship Director: Hannah Koh
Worshipping God is acknowledging and celebrating His surpassing worth with our whole being (Romans 12:1).
At MERCYhouse, we do this through music by making a joyful noise to the Lord when we gather together with instruments and people (Psalm 98:4-9) that reflect the diversity of God’s Church on earth and the multitude of heavenly hosts (Revelation 5:11-12). Our aim is to guide our church in corporate reverence, praise and awe of God.
We sing songs that are informed and inspired by God’s Word (Hebrews 4:12-13), led by God’s Spirit (Romans 8:5-8), keeping central God’s story of redemption in the Gospel (Romans 1:16), while being practically accessible to the wide range of musical talent and proficiency of our members.
Our musical style and aesthetic is flexible and will change over time, but the goal to lift our voices to worship God in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:24) will always be our purpose.
